When 5G first came out, people had to decide if they wanted to buy a new phone that can use it. Because they thought it would be faster.

You might be thinking if you really need a phone that can use 5G or not. Maybe you found a good deal on an older phone that doesn’t have 5G and you’re wondering if it’s okay to buy it.

But now some people are starting to think it’s not really that different from regular phones. They don’t see a big difference.

    Table of Contents

    • What is 5G?
    • How fast is 5G?
    • Is 5G more expensive than 4G?
    • Do I need a 5G Phone?

    What is 5G?

5G technology is more advanced than 4G and it has more capacity to handle more devices that are connected to the internet. This can make the internet faster and more stable, so you can enjoy a seamless online experience on your phone or tablet.

This could make it easier and faster to use the internet at home and when you’re on the go.

It’s also expected to open up new possibilities for the future, like self-driving cars and virtual reality.

    How fast is 5G?

5G is the 5th generation of the technology to get internet on phones or other devices without needing a cable or WiFi.

It can go up to 20 times faster than 4G. But in reality, most people’s 4G is not even as fast as it’s supposed to be. Even the fastest 4G is not as fast as it should be.

Some tests show 5G can be really fast, like one test in China where people got super-fast speeds of 3.6 Gbps.

With 4G the top speed is nearly 7.1 Mbps but with 5G it goes all the way up to 450 Mbps, which is almost half a gigabyte.

This makes it so that you don’t have to wait for pages to load, pictures to send, or videos to buffer. With 5G, you can download a 25GB movie in about ten seconds and stream videos even better.

Is 5G more expensive than 4G?

Now that 5G is here, most phone companies offer different plans for it. Even though you might think it would cost more than 4G, but it doesn’t.

You just need to have a phone that can use 5G.

But you have to be careful with how much data you use because if you use 5G to stream and download a lot of things, you will use more data.

If you have a big data plan, you don’t have to worry but if you have a small data plan, you might run out of data faster than you’re used to with 4G.

    Do I need a 5G Phone?

To understand if you need 5G in your next phone, you first need to know how 5G works.

There’s low-band 5G that’s available everywhere but it’s about the same speed as 4G. There’s millimeter-wave 5G that’s super fast but it only works in a short area.

If you’re using low-band 5G, you won’t notice a difference from 4G. But millimeter-wave 5G is not very common and you probably won’t be near one unless you go to places like stadiums, arenas, or airports. Even then, it’s only in certain spots.

The middle one is mid-band 5G, which is faster than 4G but can cover a bigger area than millimeter waves.

When deciding if you need 5G in your next phone, think about how much money you want to spend, how long you want to keep the phone, and what type of internet coverage your network provider offers.

Some cheaper phones don’t have the fastest 5G, but it’s not a big deal for most people.

Think about what you want in a phone and how long you want to keep it. If you want a bigger screen, a newer design, dual cameras and plan to get a new phone in 2 years, a 4G phone might be better. But if you want a phone that will last for 3 years or so, it’s better to get a 5G phone.

If you can afford it, getting a 5G phone is a good idea because it will be faster and work better for a long time. But if you don’t have a lot of money or the 5G phones available don’t fit your needs, you won’t miss out on much by getting a 4G phone.
